Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark Rejects JD Vance's Fraud Summit Invitation

The summit was scheduled to take place at the White House but was criticized for its insufficient notice.

Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark joined over twenty fellow state attorneys general in declining an invitation to a fraud summit hosted by JD Vance. The summit was scheduled to take place at the White House but was criticized for its insufficient notice, as the invitation was received with less than one full business day to prepare.

A letter from the AGs representing Democratic states highlighted their shared commitment to combating fraud while expressing concern over the lack of an agenda for the summit. The attorneys general voiced their intention to work collaboratively with the federal government, but emphasized the importance of having a sustainable framework for their efforts.

Clark pointed out the unfortunate nature of the perceived division between Democratic and Republican attorneys general, noting that the collaborative spirit prevalent in their work should transcend party lines. New York's Attorney General Letitia James also opted not to attend the event.
