A man has been tied to the theft of a cashbox belonging to a local Girl Scouts troop.
A man, currently on probation for previous burglary offenses, has been tied to the theft of a cashbox belonging to a local Girl Scouts troop. Authorities in both New Hampshire and Vermont are involved in the ongoing investigation.
In February, a cashbox containing approximately $1,000 was taken from a Girl Scouts cookie sales table located outside a Walmart in West Lebanon. Security footage captured a suspect fleeing across the parking lot of a nearby liquor store and escaping in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Subsequent investigations in Vermont revealed that the vehicle was registered to William Bohan, a 33-year-old resident of Fairlee, who had been on probation for multiple burglaries committed in 2022. His location was tracked down, and upon being approached by law enforcement, he reportedly confessed to the theft, mentioning that he had used most of the stolen funds to purchase drugs.
Bohan is now in custody and awaits a hearing for a violation of probation. He is also facing an active arrest warrant in New Hampshire related to the theft of the cashbox. The date set for his court appearance in Orange County Criminal Court is April 22.
