This week, Darcy entered guilty pleas to five bank fraud charges.
Michael Darcy, who once served on the Hinsdale selectboard, has admitted in federal court that he took about $345,000 from the Phelps Company while employed there as operations manager. Prosecutors said he used the money in part to pay for pornography and adult websites, with roughly $142,000 tied to those purchases.
According to indictments filed in U.S. District Court in Concord, Darcy, 49, used his position to access the company checkbook and wrote unauthorized checks between December 2019 and December 2024. He was also accused of falsifying entries in the business records to hide the missing funds.
This week, Darcy entered guilty pleas to five bank fraud charges. Each count carries a potential prison term of up to 30 years, along with three years of supervised release and a fine that could reach $1 million. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 28.
Darcy represented Hinsdale as a selectman from 2012 to 2020.
