A 17-year-old from Jaffrey was seriously injured in a dirt bike accident on private land in New Ipswich on Sunday evening, as reported by local authorities. The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m., prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Various local agencies were mobilized, including Conservation Officers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, and fire departments from New Ipswich, Jaffrey, and Peterborough, along with the Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service and the New Ipswich Police Department. Responders arrived at the scene to find that the young man had been attempting to jump a trail bike but overshot the intended landing area, resulting in a crash onto level ground.
Due to the serious nature of the injuries sustained, the incident escalated to the point where first responders called for a medical helicopter. A designated landing zone was set up at the New Ipswich Transfer Station. There, the injured teen was transferred to a UMass Memorial LifeFlight helicopter and subsequently flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center located in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Authorities confirmed that the rider had been wearing a helmet during the crash, and the circumstances of the incident are still being closely examined by officials. At this time, further details regarding the condition of the young man have not been provided.
